Bike Lanes

Bicycle lanes can provide a convenient way for citizens to get around, but they aren’t worth the money that goes into them.   The bike lanes I see in Victoria are usually completely empty, and when they are in use, its usually not by more than one or two bikers. Millions of dollars are being sunk into these bike lanes which end up having little pay off in the long run. When three million dollars is needed just to complete a bike lane that will most likely not get a lot of use to begin with, it really makes it seem like the money could be put towards something better and more beneficial to a wider group of citizens.     This money may be better put towards finding solutions to the congested areas of traffic throughout Victoria. Areas such the ‘Colwood crawl’ that often have long waits in traffic just to move a few miles could particularly benefit from this. Free Tuition

Free tuition piece Liam Tsukijima Tuition is a necessary part of the post-secondary education system and must be kept in place to afford better practices and materials for students.   In 2015 former US president Barrack Obama proposed having free tuition for colleges, which caused a huge divide between many citizens. In early 2015, president Obama had proposed a plan to lower the price of college tuition to zero, which would in turn benefit millions of students. This would allow those with a smaller income to still afford a good post-secondary education, leading to a more successful career. “ It would benefit as many as 9 million students, and cost $80 billion over 10 years, with the federal government and states splitting the cost of subsidizing tuition.” (Washington Examiner, 2015, Paragraph 4) Differing opinions are inevitable when discussing a subject such as paid tuition.
